Turbocharger specialist MasterTurbo has almost all A-brand turbochargers in-house, most of them as official manufacturer-approved distributors. This blog focuses on an A-quality product from MasterTurbo's own workshop: ReMan turbochargers in all shapes and sizes. The principle is always the same. The foundation is a good turbocharger that has already clocked up some miles. After a few treatments by MasterTurbo's experts, in mindful steps, the result is a turbocharger that can be compared to a new one. Quickly available for a reasonable price. A look behind the scenes at MasterTurbo's workshop.
ReMan stands for remanufactured. You also encounter the term in smartphones. Even there, remanufactured is different from refurbished, the process where only a few fragile parts are replaced. And maybe a superficial cleaning. With remanufactured turbochargers, we go a few significant steps further. The main difference is that a remanufactured unit, including these turbochargers, is completely rebuilt from individual parts. After a thorough cleaning and assessment, it was partly new and partly neatly repaired and reused. Such a turbocharger must meet the exact customer expectations as a new product. We ensure that at MasterTurbo by using a tight, standardized step-by-step plan.
The overhaul job begins by disassembling the turbocharger to assess each part, including the internal one. First, the parts are thoroughly washed and degreased in a remarkable, durable BioCircle blast cabinet for the last bits of dirt and minor rust spots. Then, the inspection, where we pay attention to minor damages. We can already estimate whether a successful total overhaul is feasible and profitable. If adjustments are necessary, the MasterTurbo specialist will flatten the fitting surfaces and tap new threaded holes. Once all that is done, we reassemble the individual parts of the turbocharger. In its second life, such a ReMan turbocharger can last long at full power.
Perhaps primarily because of convenience. It is quickly available because, in most cases, MasterTurbo does have a suitable turbocharger on its shelves, according to the process mentioned earlier. Waiting to revise the "own" turbocharger that showed a defect is also an option but is not always necessary. At the beginning of an overhaul job assessment, we always discuss whether a new turbocharger is the most efficient solution. The choice is then up to the customer, obviously with a quote for both options if possible: expertly overhauled or new from the factory of the same turbo manufacturer.
You never have to worry about the quality of a MasterTurbo ReMan turbocharger. After all, it has been assembled and assessed in-house. At the end of the step-by-step, disassembly-cleaning-controlling-repairing-replacing follows a standard extensive test. We rebalance the turbocharger, and the more complicated combinations are put on the flowbench. We pack the ReMan turbocharger for delivery in the well-known yellow MasterTurbo box, complete with gaskets and assembly kit, and the test report after the overhaul.
And then there's the reasonable price. In most cases, a ReMan turbocharger is cheaper than a comparable new one, and you can expect the same performance. It is also a sustainable choice. Because you are not using raw materials and energy consumption unnecessarily when producing a new turbocharger. In this case, scrapping is a waste - and unnecessary.
Our proprietary product line of remanufactured turbochargers is available for various applications, primarily passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
